KAMAL HAASAN APPROVES KKK

Kadamai Kanniyam Kattuppadu is an extravagant creation from the production house of AC Anandan, bringing director Shaji Kailash and actor RK together again after ‘Ellaam Avan Seyal’. The name has been legally procured from the yesteryear movie starring Sathyaraj and Geetha under Kamalhasan’s banner RajKamal Productions. The storyline is worked on Bollywood mega blockbuster ‘Ab tak Chappan’ starring Nana Patekar and the title has been rightfully approved by Kamal Haasan himself.

The story is about a straightforward and honest Police official. Shaji Kailash is known for adventurous and bold attempts on silver screen. This time, V Prabhakar, of Pokkiri fame, handles the script and dialogue. Madhurima, the glamour queen of the Telugu film industry, plays the lead actress and makes her debut in Tamil. Music is by Srikanth Deva and the editing is handled by the Shamjadh, assistant of the Don Max, who too makes his debut in Kollywood. Production is handled by KS Mayilvahanan.

Vivek adorns the comedy tracks and ‘Aaha’ lead actor Rajiv Krishna, who will be seen on screen after quite long, is the villain in KKK. Shammi Thilakan, son of Thilakan, ace actor of the Kollywood, Mollywood cinema industry.

RAJINIKANTH : I WILL GO IF DIRECTOR SHANKAR CALLS ME AGAIN

Rajinikanth, during the special interview telecast by a private satellite channel on Diwali, revealed that Shankar approached him with three stories – Robot/Endhiran, Sivaji and another film which is based on mystery of India and is about a hunchback.

Shankar was keen on casting with Rajini in Robot but the Superstar declined the offer thinking that he is being offered the villan role as there was a talk at that time that Shah Rukh Khan is being considered to play the lead role.

Rajini was also skeptical if would suit the scientist role and declined the offer. Then it was decided he would star in the Sivaji as it was a mass film that Rajini is used to.

After working with Shankar in Sivaji, the Superstar was so confident about the director’s capabilities that he agreed to star in the Robot/Endhiran. He also divulged that he took up the offer only because Shankar was wielding the megaphone.

So, do we get to see Shankar and Rajini joining hands for the third time as two of their ventures together have turned out to be blockbusters? Will the Superstar play the hunchback?

K S RAVI KUMAR UNSURE ABOUT DIRECTING ACTOR RAJINI

There have been reports that director KS Ravi Kumar will direct the feature film portions of Hara, an animation film which was earlier titled Sultan the warrior. Soundarya is directing the animated version of this film. But sources close to the director say that this is not official yet. Though KS Ravi Kumar has been discussing Hara with Rajini, whom he meets on a regular basis, he hadn’t actually signed the papers to direct the film.

We also hear from our sources in Kollywood, that Ochre Studios, the producers of Hara, will make a formal announcement on who will direct Hara’s feature film segment.

ASIN NOT KEEN ON KAAVALAN REMAKE IN HINDI

Asin is turning out to be Salman’s favorite actress. She played the female lead in the London Dream which had Salman Khan, following her success with the Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini. The actress then bagged another offer to share the screen space with Salman in the Telugu Ready remake, the shooting of which is still in the progress.

Salman, it has been reported, wanted to have Asin onboard for the Bodyguard remake after seeing her performance in Kaavalan with Vijay.

But the actress is not keen on the project as she wants to be paired up with other Bollywood stars as well. If this report is true, then Asin may not be seen in the Bollywood version of Kaavalan.

TRISHA’S NOVEMBER PLANS

Sadly, Trisha won’t be in Chennai to spend Diwali this year with her family and friends. The lady will be in Mumbai for a film shooting during that time. Then she flies to London where she will participate at the audio launch function of Vaanam, the film which has Silambarasan in the lead.

Later in the month, Trisha will head for Singapore to be present at the Manmadhan Ambu audio launch function. Trisha, Kamal Haasan, Madhavan and Sangeetha will also go on a cruise along with some of the film buffs as a plan to promote MA.

MANMADHAN AMBU & ENDHIRAN HONEYMOONS

Ramji, the man who hunted locations for the Endhiran film, says that ever since this film was released he is being flooded with requests from the honeymoon couples and high-end clients to find them a good honeymoon destination. Likewise, when Manmadhan Ambu releases, luxury cruises will turn out to be highly popular, he says. According to him, Europe, including France, will become the most sought-after destination among the tourists.

Ramji adds that the tourist departments of several countries are in touch with him to have their tourist spots popularized through Indian films ever since Endhiran hit the screens. Likewise, there are several films like 7aam Arivu, Poda Podi and Ko in the making, which will project foreign locales.

ITS NOT ANUSHKA… ITS LAKSHMI RAI

Raghava Lawrence is all set to begin the Kanchana, a sequel to Muni. When enquired if Anushka will play his pair as announced, we came to know that it is not so. But Raghava Lawrence has roped in Lakshmi Rai to play a vital character in this film.

The actor has retained Kovai Sarala, who was cast in Muni, but Raj Kiran will not be a part of Kanchana.


Raghava Lawrence maintains that Kanchana will be different from Muni and promises a lot of entertainment.

ALL ABOUT ACTOR DHANUSH'S AADUKALAM

The director of the Aadukalam, Vetrimaran, says that the film’s storyline is quite different from the rest. As per the story, Dhanush owns a one-legged Seval, which takes part in the several competitions and emerges as the winner. This story is something new to the Tamil audience, says Vetrimaran. The screenplay of the Aadukalam will be fast-paced he adds.

The music director, GV Prakash is importing several hi-tech instruments from foreign countries for his studios. Enquiries reveal that the musician is keen on improving the facilities in his studio to ensure that he gives quality music. According to GV Prakash scoring music for films like Madarasapattinam requires such latest equipments.

DIRECTOR VENKAT PRABHU TESTS MANKATHA

The shooting of the Mankatha is scheduled to begin on October 25th 2010. But director Venkat Prabhu went ahead with the test shoot on October 19th with Premji Amaren, Mahat Raghavendra and Vaibhav Reddy taking part in it. Mahat Raghavendra is a newbie to the film industry.

Venkat Prabhu is leaving no stone unturned to make Mankatha a success and is toiling hard to make it a perfect film. Mankatha, it may be recalled, happens to be Ajith’s 50th film. Mankatha is all about fun, action, friendship, and romance.

AJITH Meets ILAYARAJA

Yuvan Shankar Raja says that he was at home all nine days during the Navrathri festival relishing good food and music. And that is not all. Ajith paid a visit to Maestro Ilayaraja’s home for the Golu. The actor spent time with the maestro, exchanged a few words of pleasantries and then sought his blessings. Though Ajith and Yuvan have been associated for a long, this is the first time Ilayaraja is rendering his voice for an Ajith film i.e. Mankatha.

Several noted singers including Unni Krishnan were at Ilayaraja’s place during the nine-day festival to render some of the best devotional songs. Film star Divya Spandana was also a visitor to the maestro’s house.

DIRECTOR SASIKUMAR ANNOUNCES HIS NEW MOVIE

Producer cum director Sasikumar's next venture has been in the talks for quite a while now. Recent reports confirm that the title of his latest movie has been titled 'Easan'. Initially produced by actor Vikram, this movie was then overtaken by Sasikumar himself. The movie has Nadodigal fame Abhinaya as the female lead and Vaibhav and Aparna playing the vital roles. The highlight of the movie is that producer AL Alagappan will be playing a key role.

Easan has Samudrakani playing an important role with the Aparna also playing a role in the plot. The music for the Easan has been composed by James Vasanthan and the camera has been handled by SR Kathir. Easan is slated to be released in the month of December.

LINGUSAMY'S RAPPORT WITH ACTOR ARYA

Director Lingusamy is known to share a good relationship with his artists. Anyone associated with him will stand testimony for this fact. Joining the list is the ever-smiling, ever-friendly Arya who is acting in Lingusamy's next movie Vettai. Rumours indicate that the two have become close friends and Arya even recommended Mysskin for ‘Mugamudi’. It seems that Lingusamy was spellbound over the script and is now working out on a production designing.

It is also being told that Lingusamy referred by Arya to his friend Balaji Sakthivel for an untitled project which will hit the floors in the 2011. Nanbenda!

MUSIC DIRECTOR ILAYARAJA IN MANKATHA!

Yuvan Shankar Raja is busy these days scoring the music for the film Mankatha, the Ajith starrer. The music director, son of the ace musician Ilayaraja, is now said to have roped in his dad for a song. And Yuvan will join his father by rendering his voice too. This will be the first time Ilayaraja will be singing with Yuvan in the same song. Ilayaraja has earlier sung in the Yuvan’s compostions.

Yuvan’s cousin Venkat Prabhu is directing the film Mankatha and during their earlier venture together in Goa, the five cousins - Karthik Raja, Venkat Prabhu, Bhavatharini, Premji Amaran and Yuvan Shankar Raja came together for the song Yezhezhu Thalaimuraikkum.

ILEANA IN 3 IDIOTS FILM REMAKE

If reports are to be believed, Ileana will don the greasepaint for the remake 3 Idiots. The actress is expected to play the role both in the Tamil and Telugu versions. While Vijay, Jiiva and Siddharth are said to be roped in for the Tamil version, we hear that Mahesh Babu will play the Vijay’s role in Telugu.

The film is being planned for a summer release and the shooting will probably begin in the month of the November when Shankar, who will direct the film, returns from his trip abroad.

7 AAM ARIVU CONNECTS WITH ENDHIRAN

The Suriya-starrer 7aam Arivu will have some of the best technicians working on the project. And the producer Udhayanidhi Stalin has recently roped in the Stan Winston Studio for the special visual effects in the film. Now, Kollywood movie buffs had a taste of what Stan Winston Studio did in the Endhiran and with the pros being signed up yet again for another Tamil film is sure to provide the visual treat that fans expect.

7aam Arivu is a medical-thriller which is being directed by A.R. Murugadoss, the man who joined hands with the Suriya for Ghajini. The film has Shruti Haasan playing the female lead.

TAMIL CINEMA GETS A NEW COMEDIAN

Have you watched the movie Boss Engira Baskaran? Do you recognize the chubby guy eating apples and bananas all the time? Yes! We are talking about Ashwin Raj, son of renowned producer mr. L Narayanan. Though many liked his comical role in the movie, he was an integral part of the plot. News is out that Ashwin has been signed for nearly six movies after the film BEB, including Vandaan Vendran.

When asked about this, Mr. Narayanan said that he would like his son to begin as a comedian and maybe a hero at some time in his career. Going by the response of the audience, Ashwin will generate a lot of the fans in the future as well.

ENDHIRAN FILM'S FIRST WEEK BOX OFFICE COLLECTIONS

Here is what many of you have been waiting for. The box office collections of the Endhiran are out. And these are the figures for the first week of collections!

Endhiran, mainly the Tamil version, has grossed Rs. 35 crores from all its screens across in Tamil Nadu. If the Hindi and Telugu rights were sold to the Gemini Film Circuit for Rs. 20 crores and Rs. 30 crores respectively, Gemini has already retrieved the amount they had invested in the Hindi. Robo, the Telugu version, has grossed approximately Rs. 16 crores. The scene in the Karnataka is not less with Endhiran grossing Rs. 4.75 crores in the first week, in limited screens. Overall, Endhiran, Robot and Robo, has grossed a whopping Rs. 125 crores world-wide in the first week after release. Is it a record of all times? Let's wait and see.

RAAVANAN’S YET ANOTHER FEAT

Raavanan, which created waves at the 67th Venice Film Festival recently, has yet another feather to add to its cap with the film being selected for the PUSAN International Film Festival (PIFF) to be held in the Korea. The film’s lead star Vikram and the director Mani Ratnam are expected to participate in the film fest and be there during its screening.

It may be recalled that Mani was awarded the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award at the Venice Film Festival.

Raavanan has Vikram, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai playing the lead roles with a host of the other stars included in the cast.

SURIYA’S FATE IN THE BOLLYWOOD

The actor Suriya starrer Rakta Charitra is said to have some of powerful stunts. But Ram Gopal Varma, the director of the RC justifies that intense action and the violence will be an integral part of the movie and hence cannot be discarded.

Rakta Charitra, which is based on a real life incident that was happened in Andhra Pradesh a few years ago, has Suriya, Vivek Oberoi and Priyamani in the lead roles. Incidentally, RC marks Suriya’s entry to the Bollywood and movie buffs speculate that he could turn out to be a hot action hero in the Bollywood soon after RC’s release.

Court issues notice to Prabhu Deva & Nayantara

The Principal Family Court in the Chennai on Wednesday issued notices to Prabhu Deva and Nayantara on a fresh affidavit filed by the choreographer-filmmaker's wife Latha.

In her affidavit filed on the Wednesday, Latha, who approached the court on Monday to reunite Prabhu Deva with her, wanted the court to restrain Nayantara from marrying Prabhu Deva while the case is on pending, and sought to restrain them from giving public interviews.

Latha stated that she had reliably learnt that Prabhu Deva and Nayantara were proposing to enter the wedlock. If the wedding was allowed, she and her children would be put to serious loss.

She said her family was dependent upon Prabhu Deva for survival, and that he had stopped meeting even the monthly expenses. The matter has been posted for October 19. Married in 1995, Prabhu Deva and Latha have two children.

Rajini kept away all his fans from his family affairs

Rajini's fans who wanted to make money and power through Rajini are now upset as Rajini said not only No for any political speech but also kept them outside from the wedding event of his daughter.

Rajini's fans, who were used by Rajini and his family for fixing the banners, pouring milk on cut-outs etc were simply show the exit door when they tried to participate in the events of the Rajini's daughter marriage.

Upset over Rajini's treatment, they begged for a dinner with the newly married couple so that the So Called Fans's repute in the society and family will be upheld - but Rajini said strict NO to all of those.

Its now clear that Rajini will not be entering politics and he will not encourage any of his fan club members to use his image for political advantage.
